Each employee engaged in employment subject to the act, who has not obtained a social security account number, shall obtain such account number. Employees not engaged in employment as defined by the act shall make application for social security account numbers within fifteen days after becoming engaged in employment as defined by the act. Each state, municipal and other public employee shall obtain a social security account number prior to filing an application for benefits.
